WELCOME LUKE EVERETT THOMAS!!!

Dear Friends and Family,

Michael and I are thrilled to announce (incredibly and completely
UNEXPECTEDLY) the arrival of our son, Luke Everett Thomas, who is
Nate's full biological brother. Yes, it is a miracle.

Unbeknownst to us, Luke was born Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 6:55 pm,
healthy and perfect.

On Monday while we were both working, Michael received "the call" at
10:30am from our social worker who asked him to sit down, and then
informed him that the adoption agency got a call that morning that
Nate's birthmom had a baby 2 evenings earlier and she and Nate's
birthfather had decided to put the baby up for adoption, they
surrendered their parental rights and that they wanted the agency to
contact us so that if we would have him, the baby could placed with us
and raised with his biological brother.

Needless to say, once we picked ourselves up off the floor, stopped
crying and took a breath, we were off and running again to Babies R Us
to fill the carts with all the baby gear we did not have and had no
preparations for.  SOUND FAMILIAR?? Almost the same exact scenario as
with Nate 2 years ago.

It was then back home to clean, wash, sterilize and pack for our
journey to Massachusetts to the hospital to meet our son and for
Nate to meet his brother.

We could have never imagined we would be so blessed to adopt another
baby, much less Nate's full brother- truly a miracle. This has
definitely not hit us yet.  (We would have really liked a little more
notice than 24 hours to grasp that we would be expanding our family
and changing our lives-- but I guess life really does happen when
you're busy making other plans...).

We will be in MA for about a week, hopefully returning home to CT as
soon as the courts will let us.  There's still a lot of legal work
that needs to happen in both states but with God's help, all will go
well and we'll be home as a family of 4 very soon.

....to be continued...

Love,
Lori and Michael
xoxo
